Star Wars In My Life
I love my boyfriend. I really do. I love him so much that I have to accept the fact that he's an ubber Star Wars geek. He has been this geek for 30 years and in the 7 and a half years we've known each other I've been lucky enough to AVOID seeing the entire Star Wars movie collection. People, that time has ended. Commitment to Eric means commitment to The Force. I am officially going through Star Wars Geek Training. It started last night when I snuggled down with my vodka tonic and watched Star Wars - Episode IV - A New Hope. In the short span of 9 days I have to finish watching all of the Star Wars movies. Being that I can watch them back-to-back, Eric and I are hoping I will gain a greater appreciation for the much loved space Epic.Thoughts:
- Leia's hair is just too cute for me! That Cinnabon look is just outrageous.
- I'm naming my first son Luke.
- I totally had childhood flash backs of anxiety and fear when Darth Vadar choked that guy from across the room.
- I go to Fast Eddies with D&D on Fridays and I SWEAR that the people in the Fast Eddies on Richmond Highway look JUST LIKE those space people at the bar in this movie.
- If I was in outer space I'd not be dating Eric I'd be dating Chubaka. He's the cutest "walking carpet" that any space chick could get her hands on.
- For some reason I always thought Aniken, from the newer Star Wars movies, was Luke. I was wrong wrong wrong. Aniken is Luke's FATHER. It's ALL coming together now...
- C3PO -- if C3PO was human he'd be a "flammer". Ever noticed how he talks like a gay man?
- I realize now that as a child I had NO IDEA what I was watching nor did I have ANY concept of the complicated plots these movies hold. I guess I was just fascinated by the little creatures or something? The Rebels -- The Force -- none of this made sense to me as a child. None of it.
- I, Jessica Charmaine Vesely, am ever excited to watch the next one. What ever it's called...BRING IT ON. I think this intense training is starting to work.
- I bet my boyfriend has more Star Wars toys then your boyfriend.

You were right! I just called Eric. DUH.
It's all good! I went YEARS without realizing that Harrison Ford played the one guy (Hans Solo?) in the first few movies. I'm talking YEARS!!!!! Like, I found out a couple of years ago! :)
Is he going to see the midnight showing of the movie?
Is he dressing up as a character? If so, which one?
I'm just trying to determine a measure of geekiness.
I will bet you that Timmy has more toys than your boyfriend! I'm talking a freakin' inscribed, working light saber! sad sad sad
I'm glad you liked it! I told you it was cool. Tell me when you watch Return of the Jedi (#3, or Episode VI). That's my favorite. When I was little I used to wish that Ewoks were real because I just really wanted to cuddle with one!
J - These are all good questions. I think I'm happy to answer that he's not THAT much of a geek. I will say this:
1. He took the day off of work to see it on opening day.
2. He's not going dressed in character but he does have a HALLOWEEN COSTUME of OB One Kanobe (sp?)
3. He's also taking his 9 year old nephew, and friends, to see it for a birthday party. He was asked to wear the outfit but turned it down for fear of being "that guy". THANK GOD!
Lizzy - well Eric got nothing but 27 year old Star Wars toys for his 30th birthday. He'd been waiting for them for THAT LONG. And he has a death star thingy....EITHER WAY he's way cooler then Timmy. Does Timmy play with his light saber?
I haven't seen Ewoks yet I don't think....I think that's int he 3rd one.
