Yuss call me Yessica!
Tonight is my first night of school in the Spring Semester of 2006. This semester I am taking Spanish I and History 102.
I am required to take FOUR semesters of a foreign language in order to enter the teaching program at GMU; which I am SO FREAKED OUT ABOUT! I tried taking both German and Spanish in high school and never excelled in either. Not even like a little bit. So this is a SCARY adventure for me. But I learned yesterday on a corporate_skill_setting_conference_call that one should think NOT about how one CAN'T do something, or MIGHT NOT be able to do something, but rather how one CAN succeed.
So I am going to do just that! I am going to leave my past foreign language failures behind and come to terms with the things I'm going to do to succeed in this class.Starting this week I will be mucho absorbing as much of the Spanish language as I can. I'm not sure what the class Syllabus will hold for me yet -- but whatever it is I'm sure I'll be chatting it up with our local Hispanic community in no time!

Good luck with that!
Hola!
Si, senorita!
(that's about as far as my knowledge of Spanish goes.
Oh - and cerveza means beer. that's important to know)
Good luck with that... I dropped spanish in college...decided talking with my hands (sign lang) was easier! PLus sign comes in handy with my special little kiddos!
While we were on our honeymoon Lou did learn pacito (sp??) which means lil bit.
This is one of your strangest posts ever ....and the stereotypical pics that you posted are a bit insulting to me and I'm sure others in the Latino community.
Ooo fun! I never get these kinds of comments!
Anon -
Sorry I offended you - I think? I have dated/loved/wanted to marry - many South Americans, Central Americans, and Mexicans -- so believe me -- I AM NOT RACIST AGAINST LATINOS. Ooo ooo ooo and let me pull the family card -- I have half Mexican cousins. lots of them. (maybe you are one of my cousins?)
The spanish speaking cultures are a huge part of my grade this semester -- so to me -- posting pictures of sombreros and rodeos shouldn't be quite so stereotypical - but cultural? Maybe that's a stretch...
Maybe you'd prefer me to post pictures of plantains or Bolivian Saltenas, my favorite foods? Do you think the pictures of my chinchilla, from the Andes Mountains of South America are insulting to the Latino culture too?
In conclusion, I do appreciate your feedback, afterall what is a comment section for, but if it's alright with you I'm going to continue writing (and picture posting) what I want on my blog...since..... it is .... about me.
PS. I think I have entries that are much more "strange".....
Adios!
Here is my comment written in Spanish ... in case that helps.
I agree- you have had much stranger posts! And we still need to plan to get together so I can give you some ammo for E's birfffday!

Hola Yessica,
Please do not use the translator you used to translate your comment into Spanish! It is just awful as are all on-line translators. When you become proficient in Spanish, you will be able to read that translation and realize it really does not make any sense.
Hey, si necesitas ayuda, con mucho gusto te ayudaré con el Español (If you need help, it will be my pleasure to help you with Spanish language).
Hacia tiempo no te leía (long time not reading your blog)
Hasta pronto

Sorry about the translation -- I was rushing. =)

Glad to see you're reading again -- since you implied that you haven't been.
Adios e-amigo!
