One day until Liz gets here.

ONE day until Liz gets here. I'm so thrilled. She's sad lately, being dumped and all, but she's coming here to cheer up and I'm on a mission to make that happen. Eric has committed to making her a bath tub full of mac n' cheese a.k.a comfort food. I don't cook, as you know, so I can't compete with that. But I can take her shopping, drinking, eating, throw a party, run her a bath (minus the noodles), hand her tissues or my shoulder, help her reapply her mascara, smack her on the butt on the way out the door, and lend her my angel child (only for a few minutes at a time though...). She will be well on her way to healed once she leaves DC! All you readers, who are coming on Saturday, give her a hug. You're involved.

My car.
I've spent over $700 on my car this month. Actually I'm afraid to really count how much money I've spent on my car in 2005 -- but it's been a bad year. I'm hoping 2006 brings automobile peace on my fucking earth. Just a few weeks back - new tires ($350). Last week - a rear hub assembly ($370) Yesterday - loud noise in steering wheel for which I needed fluid (free - thank GOD) Today - headlight out. In a few weeks I'm due for my oil change and then need to spring for the tires to be aligned.

With many situations in life there is good news -- and there is bad news. The good news is that A) my car payment is interest free B) I pay my Mom so I can tell her, "Mom, I'm not going to pay you for a few months until I pay off my high credit card total due to unexpected car repairs C) The repairs, although costly, are just maintenance repairs - The car has 82k miles on it & I don't have mega engine, transmission, electrical issues. The bad news: A) Hello -- it's CHRISTMAS and I need my mother f'ing money! I can't be spending it on this shit. B) I'm actually becoming embarrassed to bring my car in to the shop. Even though it is one of my dearest friends that works on my car, I am ashamed. It's getting ridiculous. I contemplated buying a new car but Eric and I both agree that once the car gets up on it's feet -- the repairs will stop for a while and I'll reef the benefits of once again having an interest free car payment.

Saturday is our big Christmas bash. Eric and I are hosting a Christmas/Condo reopening party at our house. I'm SO EXCITED!

Things Liz and I need to do on Saturday, before the party:

  1. Make Christmas Cookies
  2. Buy Booze for mixed drinks and holiday special drink "poinsettia"
  3. Get ice
  4. Clean
  5. Look hot
  6. hang left over Christmas lights on the balcony
  7. Decorate
  8. Come up with/create other appetizer
  9. Get Champagne
  10. Put together a Christmas song list (Liz - do you have Josh Grobin's Christmas album?)
  11. Put on our matching reindeer headbands
  12. Pick up stuff at Trader Joes
  13. Get bowl from Holly's
  14. Groceries (egg nog, pretzels, chips, dip, etc)
  15. Get keg (Eric - you're on this task.)
  16. Drop shit off at my Moms (presents, storage)

And there's more....but I can't think of them.
