King Kong

Eric and I brushed up on the two prior King Kong movies before heading out to the Cinema last night to watch the latest and not so greatest. We both had mixed feelings about the 3-hour long movie when we left the theater at 11pm last night. I'd write a really lengthy review if I weren't so fucking tired from being at the movies that late, and fighting off wild jungle beasts in my sleep. Eric found this review today and it's a pretty good summation of how we both felt.

My favorite line of the review: "an attack by creatures that look like angry penises with teeth" You must read the review to find out about them -- unless you saw the movie.

ok, haven't seen it, but you shouldn't have watched the other 2 first. They really suck and are not really like the original story.

I'll let you know this weekend what we thought.

Courtney -- What ORIGINAL STORY? I thought the 1930s version was the original story...... I'm lost....

Cory -- I am debating Narnia....I never read the book like I was told to in school.

well the other 2 King Kong movies from the 70's were just King Kong, they weren't based on the 1930's one. So Peter Jackson gets mad when people compare his movie to the 1970's one.

Courtney,

I saw the black and white one from the 30s and the 70's one (with Jeff Bridges) before I saw the new one. I think they are all similar. The only REAL difference is the reason they're going to the island AND the monkey himself.

The reasons I didn't like the new one had NOTHING to do with the story. It ONLY had to do with the extra stuff he put in the movie that was irrelevant -- and NOT in the movie made in the 1930s.

I did my homework on this one, boy!

Courtney,

There were TWO made in the 70's? I know there was one made in '76 called King Kong but I didnt think there was another one made till '86 which was called King Kong Lives. Am I wrong?
